AFFORDABLE
ACCOMMODATION AND SAFARIS IN ZAMBIA'S SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK
Welcome
to Wildlife Camp - Luangwa Valley
Why stay
at the Wildlife Camp?
At Wildlife Camp we offer a much-needed niche for the traveller, providing affordable rustic
En-suite chalets, a secluded en-suite tented camp, a Bushcamp for overnight walking safaris and a beautiful campsite, all situated on the banks of the stunning Luangwa River.
The Wildlife Camp is situated on land owned by Wildlife and Environmental Conservation Society of Zambia. We operate under their auspices and proudly donate 60% of all the accommodation and camping fees to the society, which in return supports the wildlife and people of the Luangwa Valley and Zambia.
Who are we?
Established in 1992 by Herman Miles, Wildlife Camp is "owner run" and the home of the two business partners, namely Herman Miles (managing director) and Patsy Hahn (financial director), three children, dogs named Sam and Boo, a few hand raised bush buck and Penny the squirrel!!
Herman has worked in
the safari business for the last 25 years and been a guide in Botswana,
Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia. He is a keen birdwatcher and
naturalist. Herman oversees all the vehicles, workshop and general camp maintenance.
Patsy grew up in Zambia and has been coming to the valley for the last 20 odd years, finally making The Wildlife Camp her home in 1999. She is now found in the office most days, her forte is the marketing, reservations and accounts as well as camp logistics. She is passionate about Zambia and the Luangwa Valley and her sense of adventure leads her to some interesting places.

Together with Herman and Patsy, Camp Managers – Colleen Brink and Dora Troehler take care of the daily business and ensuring guests enjoy their stay in this wonderful area.
Dora is from the beautiful slopes of Switzerland and has 40 years experience in the tourism industry. She has travelled the globe and has an endless supply of stories and travel tips. Dora worked in Kasanka National Park for 3 years and so has plenty of experience in Zambia too. Dora has the gift of the gab and can speak 5 languages, which include German, French, Italian, Spanish, English and is picking up on Bemba and
Chinyanga.
Colleen is our Jill of all trades, she joined us last year. Initially she began teaching in our little wildlife school, but has added manager, camp photographer, and several other jobs to her belt. Colleen was born in Zimbabwe and immigrated to New Zealand in 2001. Her passion for wildlife, conservation and the African bush reflects greatly in her bubbly personality.
Besides our management, Wildlife Camp has a team of highly qualified guides, Andrew Bwalyia, Philemon, Billy, Sylvester and Andrew Jnr. We also have around 30 other staff from barmen to housekeepers and I will not mention them all in case I leave someone out! We have a wonderful friendly team and are on hand at all times to answer questions and try and ensure your stay with us is a wonderful one.
Our
Camp
Our nine
chalets offer a classic combination of the rustic but comfortable and
affordable. Each chalet is en-suite and offers guests a tranquil setting
alongside the Luangwa River and lagoon areas. Our main bar and
restaurant caters for all tastes and is conveniently located in the
centre of our camp.
Besides our chalets
we now are able to offer the classic combination of rustic, comfortable
and affordable in a real “Out of Africa”
tented camp.
It is located beyond our campsite with magnificent views over the Luangwa River. It is perfectly set up for groups, but also for the independent traveller with its own entertainment and barbeque area and a self catering kitchen. We have five tents all located under a thatched roof. Each tent has a small veranda in the front with comfortable chairs, two beds and an open air shower and toilet. We are happy to provide transport to and from the restaurant in the main camp.
The
campsite
is complete with grassy areas, shady trees, ablution blocks with hot
showers, thatched shelters, power points and a sparkling swimming pool.
We have recently updated our “Warthogs”
pub at the campsite and offer a few inventive cocktails, great mellow music and of course, the best sunset- views in the Valley.
The
Wildlife Bush
Camp offers guests a chance to experience an over night walking
safari - complete with bucket showers and meals cooked on an open fire.
(These are only available at certain times of the year).
We offer a variety of packages; from full board (including accommodation, all meals and two game activities per day), Dinner, Bed and Breakfast, self catering or accommodation only.
If you are looking for a comfortable relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the bush on a very affordable budget, this is the ideal place for you to stay.
